Teeth Straightening

Many people have crowded or crooked teeth. Orthodontic treatment will straighten the teeth or move them into a better position. This can not only improve their appearance but also the way the teeth bite together, while also making them easier to clean.

Why do we recommend it?
In some cases 'prominent' teeth are more vulnerable and may also cause damage to lips and gums. Orthodontic treatment can move them back into line.

For some, the way the upper and lower jaws meet can cause teeth to look unsightly and lead to an incorrect bite. Orthodontic treatment may be able to correct both.

When the teeth do not meet correctly, this can put strain on the muscles of the jaw, causing jaw and joint problems and in some cases headaches. Orthodontic treatment can help you bite more evenly and reduce the strain.

Case 1 – Invisalign

There is no doubt as to why this lady was unhappy with the appearance of her smile. What is remarkable is that she decided to seek our help at the age of 62. Although this lady presented with severe crowding as well as issues in terms of biting and chewing, she decided that since she had coped with this all her life, her aim would simply be an improvement to her smile. Invisalign treatment was carried out over a period of 15months and her new smile was enhanced with our tooth whitening system.

Case 2 – Invisalign

This gentleman came to see us with veneers in mind to improve the appearance of his smile. Although veneers were an option, we advised a more conservative approach using Invisalign. In this case, not only did we have to consider the overcrowded upper teeth but also the upper right retained baby canine tooth. We therefore decided to temporarily restore the baby tooth with a composite material to mimic its adult appearance prior to proceeding with Invisalign treatment.

Case 3 – Invisalign

This lady was unhappy with her smile due to the large space between her central teeth. In the past she had seen other dentists for composite restorations which were bonded onto the inside edge of the two teeth thereby closing the gap. However this method resulted in the appearance of having two very wide front teeth and furthermore chipping and even debonding of the restorations was always a concern. Invisalign treatment was discussed as a permanent and therefore more ideal option for closing the space.

Case 4 – Invisalign

This lady was unhappy with her smile due to the crowding of the upper teeth and especially how both her canine teeth appeared so prominent when she did smile. She was concerned conventional (metal) braces would be too unsightly and did not wish to embark along that route to straighten her teeth. Invisalign treatment was discussed as an alternative and more aesthetically pleasing method for improving her smile.
